Mr. Md. Quamrul Islam Chowdhury is the Managing Director and CEO of Mercantile Bank Limited. He was the Additional Managing Director of the same bank.
He joined Mercantile Bank Limited in February 2001 and was posted as Branch Incumbent of Khatungonj Branch, Chittagong. He served as Head of Agrabad Branch, Chittagong, Zonal Head of Chittagong Region and Head of Main Branch, Dhaka.
He started his banking career in National Bank Limited in 1983 as Probationary Officer. Mr. Chowdhury later joined NCCBL holding position of Senior Asstt. Vice President and Branch In-Charge of Jubilee Road Branch, Chittagong.
Mr. Chowdhury obtained Master’s degree in Marketing from Dhaka University. He is highly committed and successful banker especially in exploring business opportunities and providing creative solutions for the difficulties in banking operations. He has a wide range of experience in International Trade, Card & Retail Banking and Mobile Financial Services. He converged training program, seminar & workshop in both home and abroad viz: USA, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore etc.
Additional Managing Director & CRO
Mr. Mati ul Hasan is the Additional Managing Director and CRO of Mercantile Bank Limited. Over 39 years of experience in the financial sector, he has been working in Mercantile Bank from 2014. He joined IFIC Bank in 1st April, 1984 as Probationary Officer. He has experience of 10 years in oversees operation in Pakistan and 2 years in Nepal Bangladesh Bank, Nepal. He was the Head of overseas branch in Pakistan and Nepal, Head of Branch Local Office of IFIC Bank- Dhaka. He completed B.S.S. (Hons) in Economics from Dhaka University and Masters in Bank Management. He is a Diplomaed Associate of Institute of Bankers, Bangladesh (DAIBB) and Associate Member of Institute of Bankers, Pakistan.
Deputy Managing Director & CSBO
Mr. Adil Raihan has over 24 years of experience in Banks and Financial Institution including ANZ Grindlays Bank, Standard Chartered Grindlays Bank, HSBC, GSP Finance company (BD) Ltd, Prime Bank Ltd, The Premier Bank Ltd, One Bank Ltd and Bank Asia Ltd. He played the role of Customer Service Manager, Assistant General Manager & Head of Credit & Marketing,Head of Retail Banking & Cards, Head of Mobile Financial Service, Agent Banking, Cards, Alternative Banking Channels & Project Management and Head of Channel Banking. He completed graduation and post graduation from India.
Deputy Managing Director & CAMLCO
Mr. Shamim Ahmed has over 30 years experience in the Banks including United Commercial Bank Ltd and Prime Bank Ltd. He is with Mercantile Bank Limited from June, 1999. He completed his B.Sc. (Hons), M.Sc. in Statistics from University of Dhaka. He has specific expertise on foreign trade, treasury and branch banking. He is selected as a Trainer for outreach training program on “Foreign Exchange Risk Management” designed for the ‘Training of Trainers’ arranged by Bangladesh Bank Training Institute and South Asia Enterprise Development Facility (SEDF). He participated in a good number of training program at home and abroad in International Trade, Foreign Exchange, Tresury, Banking operation and AML & CFT. Mr. Shamim is actively associated with many social activities.
Deputy Managing Director & CBO
Hasne Alam is a career banker with years of multi-functional experience. He started his banking career with Rupali Bank Limited as Probationary Officer in 1986. He has over 37 years experience with Rupali Bank Limited and Islami Bank Bangladesh Ltd. He worked in various management capacities in bank being in the role of Branch Manager, Zonal Head, Divisional Head, Head of International Division, Treasury Division, Engineering Division, Human Resources Division and Industrial Credit Division. He was also the CAMLCO of Rupali Bank Limited. He was member of technical committee, Bangladesh Foreign Exchange Dealers Association (BAFEDA).
Mr. Alam obtained Honors and Masters Degree from Chattogram University in Management. He is a Diplomaed Associate of the Institute of Bankers Bangladesh (DAIBB). He participated many training Courses, Seminars, Conferences, workshops at home & abroad and traveled many countries around the globe including India, Indonesia, Thailand, Austria, France, Hungary, KSA, Bahrain and UAE.

Mr. Md. Mahmood Alam Chowdhury is experienced in banking service more than 34 years. He has a special expertise on assessment of credit proposals, legal aspects to set up the terms and conditions of loan/lease agreement and in documentation, settlement of impaired loans and disputes with his innovative ideas, leadership etc. As Deputy Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Bank he is contributing an important role towards development of the bank. Mr. Chowdhury possesses vast experience both in branch and head office banking. He executed the responsibilities of Branch Manager of different AD branches including the Main branch of the Bank. During his long career he efficiently ran many divisions of head office of the bank as Head of Division like Human Resources division, Central Law division, Special Asset Management division, Internal Control and Compliance division, Corporate Affairs division, Branches and Marketing division, General Services division. Mr. Md. Mahmood Alam Chowdhury attended many professional training programs inside the country and in abroad arranged by Banks’ Training Institutes, Bangladesh Bank, World Bank and by the foreign financial institutions. He travelled India, Thailand Malaysia, Germany and France several times for enhancement of his knowledge. Mr. Chowdhury completed his education from the University of Dhaka in BA (hons.) and MA in History. He was a professional hockey player and played hockey in the Dhaka First Division Hockey League and in different tournaments under School, College and University team.

Mr. Ashim Kumar Saha has completed Post-Graduation in Accounting from University of Dhaka. Over 31 years of experience in the banking sector, Mr. Ashim Kumar Saha has expertise on Government Securities, Local & Foreign Currency Management, ALM Analysis and Risk Management. He is also expertise in private bonds and equity market. He started banking career in 1990 with Uttara Bank Limited as Probationary Officer. He worked at NCC Bank Ltd for 20 years. During the tenure of NCC Bank Ltd, he worked in Financial Administration Division and thereafter taking the responsibility of Treasury Division Front Office. On 10th August 2016, he joined Mercantile Bank Ltd as Senior Executive Vice President and Head of Treasury.
He is serving as the Member Secretary of ALM, Investment Committee and member of SMT, Credit Committee, etc. He is also instrumental in integrating the entire Treasury Operation with in- house IT solutions.
He has attained different professional training programs and workshop in USA, Germany, Japan, India, Thailand, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Hong Kong, & Indonesia vastly for developing bonds and equity market in Bangladesh. He is a Convener, Technical committee of PDBL. He is the chairman of Technical committee of BAFEDA. He is a Registered Income Tax Practitioner.
Senior Executive Vice President & Head of Corporate Banking Division
Shah Md Sohel Khurshid with 30 years of banking experience has versatile expertise in the area of General Banking, Import, Export, Corporate & Retail Credit and SME Financing at both Branch and Head Office level. He joined United Commercial Bank Limited as a Probationary Officer on September 16, 1991, and then joined Dhaka Bank Limited in April 1997. He has been working in Mercantile Bank Limited since December 1999. Besides acting as Head of Corporate Banking Division, presently he discharges his duties as a member of senior Management Team and several Management Committees of the Bank. Previously he served as the Head of the Branches of Bijoynagar, Gulshan and Mohakhali Branch. He obtained BSS(Hons), MSS, from the University of Dhaka and MBA degree from a Private University. He attended a good number of training and workshop programs on almost all windows of banking both at home and abroad. He traveled to many countries including India, Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam Germany, Netherlands and Switzerland.

Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Rezwan has 29 years of professional exposure in banking industry in various capacities. He started his banking career in Arab Bangladesh Bank as Probationary Officer in 1994. He also served in HSBC, Premier Bank, Trust Bank in different leadership capacities at Head Offices and Branches. At Mercantile Bank Limited, Mr. Rezwan has been serving as Head of International Division and HR Division. He is the member secretary of Senior Management Team (SMT) and member of Investment Committee, Asset Liability Management Committee and Executive Risk Management Committee.
Mr. Rezwan completed his Honors and Masters in Economics from University of Chittagong and completed Masters in Bank Management (MBM) from University of Science and Technology, Chittagong. He is an alumnus of Economics Department of the University of Chittagong. He has attended seminars, workshops and training programs at home and abroad in various occasions.

Mr. Tapash Chandra Paul, PhD has more than 2 (two) decades of diversified experience in Banking Sector. He has sound academic track record. Having completed his B.Com (Hon’s) & M. Com from University of Dhaka and obtained MBA from reputed university, Mr. Paul was also awarded PhD for his contribution in Research work on Strategic Management of Commercial Banks in Bangladesh. He has attended a good number of training courses, workshops & seminars/webinars at home & abroad. He is a regular trainer at the Mercantile Bank Training Institute and the training institutes of other Banks/FIs. He delivers both nationally & internationally as a keynote speaker in the field of Finance, Banking, and Economics & Risk Management. He writes insightful and informative articles regularly on Banking and Economics in the widely circulated National dailies.
